About tintpixels

tintpixels is a free wallpaper site for desktop, tablet and phone. The wallpapers are made with the help of AI tools, hand-selected and cut to the exact size of each screen, from Full HD to super ultrawide, iPad, iPhone and Android. No sign-up.

tintpixels is a small independent project from Hamburg, Germany. Our mission: make the world's screens more beautiful, so you're happy every time you look at yours.

• Nature wallpapers (16): Forests, meadows and leaves in soft light. A breath of fresh air for your desktop and phone.

• Abstract wallpapers (95): Flowing colour, glass and watercolour that fill a screen without crowding your icons.
• Space wallpapers (7): Nebulae, ringed planets and sunrise from orbit. Deep blacks that look great on OLED screens.
• City wallpapers (27): Neon streets in the rain, skylines at dusk, old-town rooftops and imaginary cities on ridges, clouds and the sea floor.
• Cozy wallpapers (7): Rainy windows, snowy cabins and warm reading corners. Lo-fi calm for long days.
• Minimal wallpapers (63): Soft gradients and simple shapes with plenty of room for your icons and widgets.
• Dark wallpapers (51): Dark wallpapers with quiet glows, easy on the eyes at night and on OLED phones.
• Retro wallpapers (37): Synthwave sunsets, chrome bubbles and seventies waves.

How the wallpapers are made

We make every wallpaper with the help of AI tools, in one of two ways.

• Photographic and illustrated motifs, such as landscapes, cities and cozy scenes, are generated with AI image models from our own briefs. Each motif gets two or three large masters in different shapes, and every download size is cut from the one that fits best, so the subject stays in frame on every screen.
• Graphic patterns, such as Bauhaus grids, gradients, contour lines and seventies waves, are drawn as vector graphics. An AI model suggests palettes and parameters, our own code draws the shapes, and each size is rendered straight from the vectors, so edges stay crisp at any resolution.

Then a person looks at every one. Only wallpapers that follow our design approach go on the site: one clear subject, a calm palette and plenty of quiet space for your icons and widgets.

Free to use

All wallpapers are free for your own devices. The license explains what that covers. If tintpixels made your screen nicer, you can support us on Ko-fi, entirely voluntarily.

Questions and answers

Are the wallpapers really free?

Yes. Every wallpaper on tintpixels is free to download for your own desktop, laptop, tablet and phone. There is no account, no sign-up and no paid tier.

Are the wallpapers made with AI?

Yes, with the help of AI tools. Photographic and illustrated motifs are generated with AI image models from our own briefs; graphic patterns are drawn as vector graphics from palettes and parameters an AI model suggests. Every wallpaper is then hand-selected and refined, and many drafts never make it onto the site.

Which size should I download?

Each wallpaper comes in up to 29 sizes, from Full HD to 7680 × 2160 super ultrawide, plus iPad, iPhone and Android. On a wallpaper page the size picker puts the size closest to your screen first, marked “Fits your screen”. The wallpaper sizes page lists every size with the screens it fits.

Can I use a wallpaper on several devices?

Yes. Use it on as many of your own screens as you like, as a desktop background or as a lock and home screen.

Can I use the wallpapers commercially or share them elsewhere?

Please don't sell them or re-upload them to other sites, apps or wallpaper packs. Showing a wallpaper in an article, review, newsletter or video is welcome if you link to its wallpaper page; every page has a credit link to copy. For anything else, such as commercial use, email hello@tintpixels.com.

How do I set a wallpaper?

Mac: right-click the downloaded file in Finder and choose Set Desktop Picture. Windows 11: right-click the file and choose Set as desktop background. iPhone: save the image to Photos, open it, tap Share and choose Use as Wallpaper. Android: open the image in your gallery app and choose Set as wallpaper.
